First stop – Paris

Everyone (but me) is sleeping soundly in a large and quiet apartment in 7th Arrondisement.

The highlight of the day was Lorna getting stopped by 2 young gendarmes for driving through a red light. She avoided the €130 on-the-spot fine by flirting outrageously. I also enjoyed Lorna trying to get around the Arc de Triomph (see picture). After those experiences, she asked “we’re not going to Rome, are we?”, the site of previous even more difficult driving conditions.

This evening, we explored the surrounding area. Typically French with few tourists in this area. Meal at a pavement cafe; Lorna’s and my meal good, but children’s inedible. Local shopping great, but food prices sky high!

Glad to hear Lorna’s language skills have already proved useful and that she still “has it”. Is the pressure of organising this surprise trip stressing you out?

Can I have some tips on seeing Tilly’s blog?
